Extremely comfortable to fire and easy to control, the Tracker Series maintains a high level of accuracy, rock-solid performance, and near-indestructible construction. The Model 627 revolver 357 Magnum has a 7-round cylinder, and makes a practical choice for backpacks and tackle boxes, especially where there are bears and other predators around. It has a transfer bar safety as well as the Taurus Security System. The 627 features factory-tuned barrel porting and a gas expansion chamber for recoil, as well as the ergonomic, shock-absorbing Ribber grip. It has a matte stainless steel metal finish with a fixed front sight and adjustable rear sight. This model has a 6.5" barrel.

I was honestly hesitant in purchasing a Taurus. Not that I had heard anything bad about them, but at such a low price, I thought that they couldn't be that great. I was wrong.
I had shot a friend's S&W .357 Magnum and had gotten it in my craw that I had to have a .357 of my own. When I first started shopping, I was stunned by the price of the S&W, so I started reading the reviews of less expensive brands. When I read the reviews of the Taurus .357's, I became intrigued. The reviews of the Taurus revolvers were as good, or better, than those of the other, more expensive, revolvers. The only negative thing that anyone had to say was on the bluing, so, I bought this stainless model.
The first time that I took it out of the box I was shocked. I'm sure that it was mostly due to the rubber grip, my friend's S&W had wooden grips, but, my Taurus felt really good in my hand. I have really big hands. I'm 6'8" tall. Even with my huge hands, the Taurus felt like it was made for me.
The real excitement came when I got to the range. Single action, double action, it shot like a dream. I'm sure that it has something to do with the porting, but, it was very easy to quickly line up follow-up shots. I shot out an entire box of .38 Special and .357 Magnum and experienced very little fatigue in my hands.
The really great thing was how incredibly easy it was to shoot tight groups. Right out of the box, the sights were dead on. I started shooting at 25' and after a couple flingers I was putting round after round through the same ragged hole. After 14 rounds of .38 Special and 14 rounds of .357, I moved the target out to 50'. I finished off both boxes of ammo making 1" groups of 7 shots each.
After reading this far, I think it should be apparent that I am really loving this revolver. I would go so far as to guarantee that you would love this revolver, too. If you have never owned a Taurus, I highly recommend that you own at least one. I can't vouch for the automatics, but, I know that you will be happy with one of their revolvers.
So quit reading already and order one.
